Chiang Mai Old Cultural Center

The Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center has been  open for more than  twenty-five years and exists to inform visitors about northern Thai or ‘Lanna’ culture.Lanna culture represents the remaining spirit of the  ancient  northern Thai  kingdom,  of which  Chiang  Mai was the  main  city  or capital.  At Old Chiang  Mai Cultural  Center,  you  will surely have a pleasant  evening enjoying stage  performances  and  shows  from hill tribes. The Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center also offers a great variety of purchasable souvenirs as  well as products such as handicrafts, garments  and  musical instruments  of the  various tribes, which are  displayed on stalls all along the  way.

Getting there

You can  either take  a Tuk Tuk or a pickup service by contacting  the  Cultural Center directly. It is only a  10-minute  drive from the  old town.

Playhouse Theatre Chiang Mai

The Playhouse Theatre Chiang Mai, is a 350-seat  theatre  elegantly presented  in a contemporary Thai art design.A talented  group  of Thai  performers  will dance  and entertain  you with exotic stage  designs, combining the  theatrical style  of Europe  with  the  traditions  of Thailand.  All performances  are  suitable for the  entire  family. The Playhouse Theatre  Chiang Mai is  easily  accessible  by  Tuk Tuk or Song Thaeo. seats  and  advanced  booking is therefore required.The authentically  designed  Stage  Bar at this theatre  is another  area  for young local performers to express their talents to a large local and  international audience. Nightly entertainment starts from 18:00 till 01:00. The  Stage  Bar is located in a sophisticated  garden environment right at the entrance of the  Playhouse  Complex.Here you will find light snacks,  wine cocktails as  well as  beers, international and  local, at  quite competitive prices. The  institute  of Playhouse  Performing Arts  Center  (PPAC) aims to develop all aspects   of performing  art.  All tuitions at  PPAC are conducted  by certified professionals. Warm Up Pubs and restaurants on Nimmanhaemin Road

A group  of friends started  the  ‘Warm Up Cafe’ about  10 years ago. As time passes  by, this place has  grown very popular among  young  people  in Chiang Mai. This cafe or bar is not very touristy, it is rather a meeting place  for trendy  locals to hang  out.The Warm Upcafe is a pub, a restaurant and  a dance  club with live music by various bands  and  disc  jockeys. It offers two large dance rooms, three bars, and an  outdoor courtyard, which  is very suitable for socializing and making new friends. The  limited menu,  available until midnight, offers fried rice, chicken, and  pork dishes.  There  is a  regular schedule  of live music  and  other  fields of entertainment.

The Pub

Pubs and restaurants on River Road ‘The Pub’ is one of the oldest pubs within the  city of Chiang Mai. The building was  built in 1969. Originally,  this building was  intended to be  a library, but it ended up as a watering  hole for local tobacco  dealers. Remarkably,  many  of these  people were from South  Africa.The Pub is just  the  right  place  for people who are yearning for the atmosphere   of British pubs  in  the northern  part  of Thailand.
