To the heart of the traveler like me, the road will never end. There will always be a way for me to seek the opportunity to explore more, lighting up the inspiration of lifetime knowledge. For me, this new destination is the top of the mountain called “Khao Kra Jome” Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province.

I left Bangkok early in the morning and reached Suan Phueng district in the afternoon. The van I traveled in parked at the “Usavadee” field for us to freshen up before we reach our destination “Khao Kra Jome“. And since there is limited space up there at “Khao Kra Jome“, we all needed to take shower and change before we did not. have a chance. After we all changed, we moved to a four-wheel drive because other kinds of vehicle could not possibly drive up to the peak of the mountain with non-asphalt road. Some part of the road is filled with water scouring over the road from the rain and full of rocks. Only some part of the road are paved, therefore, making this place one of the best place to practice an off road adventure.

A green jeep with a giant wheel rolled down towards the peak of the mountain, having sign said 7 kilometers to the top of “Khao Kra Jome“. As we ride along the sideways with wind and dust upon our faces, we saw a lot of trees and realized that this place is still enrich by the nature. “Khao Kra Jome” is 1,000 meter above the water level. II is the base of the frontier policemen, the border of Western Thai Myanmar area. We reached the top of the mountain almost evening. The weather was quite nice with perfect scenery of mist, therefore, a lot of tourists like to stay and camp up here. I would like to point out one thing that if you have a chance to come up here and bring food with you, do bring the trashes down with you in order to maintain the status of this nature and the environment.

The sun was about to set, I was having rice which was cooked in the bamboo flask, enjoying the romantic night scene with all the stars in a clear sky. It was slightly chilling when I sat under the stars in moonlight, so I had to set up a bonfire and late at night we drove along the moon path to watch different kinds of animals came to fetch a food. We did not track any animal so we had to go back to the camping area until we heard cicadas noise, so we went up to the top of the mountain again and sat down under the bonfire and looked up the clear sky and relaxed with the unpolluted nature.

Wind was blowing all night, kept me awake, and wondered if our tent will blew in the air. Luckily, the tents were fine and in the morning, there were mist and the sun was about to rise. After a while, we heard the engine starts, it was green jeep given the sign that we had to leave Khao Kra Jome.

Along the path on the way back, there are a lot of things we discovered in this nature: the rare banana trees, waterfalls called “PhaDeang”, which was 200 meters from the top of Khao Kra Jome. We went to the waterfall and rested there for a while, and then we spotted a lot of beautiful banana trees at Orchid Bee Garden, which imported orchid to oversea. It was a free entrance.

The sun was about to set, and we all know the trip was about to finish.At Khao Kra Jome ,While I was sitting in the van to go back, I glanced on the sideways together with the sunset view on the far glance, till I slept and next thing I knew, we reached Bangkok.

Journey, Khao Kra Jome:

Ratchaburi is one of the interesting cities in Thailand. It is located not far from Bangkok and there area lot of interesting places to visit. Suan Pheung is one of the places I would like to recommend you to visit on your holiday. There area lot of natural environment surrounded and the journey was quite convenient.

• Private car to Khao Kra Jome : use highway no. 338 and then get in Petchkasem Road at Amphor Nakornchaisri before arrive to Nakornprathom 16 kin. use Petchkasem Road heading to Ratcha buri , them turn right to highway 3208 at Khao Kan Jan, go straight to Amphor Suan Phueng about 60 kilometers.

When I watched the elephant show, those trained elephants were so cute and adorable that I almost forgot about their wild instinct.

You can either go to Inthanon and back to the city or stop by at Mae Jam on this way. I chose to go to Sob Win, a 100 yrs old village in the hills. Natures are still valued for its fertility. Mae Wang River is the main stream from Doi Inthanon. Pa ker yaw, Hmong and Thais all live there in unity. For those who want to learn the about the hill tribes and to ride the elephant can overnight at the home stay. First I wondered how elephant riding at Mae Wang is different from other tourist spots, but after I had my own experience, I can’t stop talking to myself that this is really wonderful.

I tried to take pictures as I usually do, but it was too difficult for me since I was on an elephant!

I stopped taking pictures and made the impressions of nature instead. The mahout told me that the elephant riding tour has an important part in changing the villager’s life. The family income was increased after and elephant are happier when they no longer work hard. When elephants walk in the trail, they can stop and eat some fruits from the tree. I had fun looking at them while they ate. If you are not afraid of the elephant, I’d suggest you to try sitting on their neck. You can control them by using your leg to make it turn left and right. Tee Lor Soo, For summer we go to the beach. When it is rainy season we take a ride to waterfall, to get cool by fresh water. Tee Lor Soo, located in Tak . it is believed to be no. 6 most beautiful waterfall in Asia. Even though the road to this magnificent natural resource is not an easy one, a lot of tourists are going there to experience 1,292 curves in Urn Pang District. Because of the rough, long tiring journey, people say if you are not really a nature lover, you would not come here.

Tee Lor Soo Waterfall, with 500 meter wide and 300 meter tall, 900 meter high from Sea level, is located in Urn Pang Wildlife Sanctuary Center. Karens who are locals here name it Nam Tok Dam. The water comes from a stream Hauy Klor Tier and goes downs to Mae Klong River in Urn Pang. The waterfall is surrounded by greenish trees, inviting you to spend a night sleeping in a tent here, How nice it is that there is no single resort or other buildings in around this scenic natural place. The entrance fee costs only 20 Baht/person. To hire a tent is also not so expensive.A long the way to Tee Lor Soo, you will

see several small  waterfalls with blue shine. After that there are many kinds of mixed deciduous forest and bamboo trees to learn along walk way. When you stand in front of Tee Lor Soo Waterfall, you will feel fresh from foggy. Of course, you must feel wet. and then you want to jump into the water in front of’ you. You have to remind yourself for safety too.

After we arrived to guest house, we change our cloth for adventure clothes, all devices put into water resistance bag and then jump into the raft. We sail along Mae Klong River, see Tee I.or Jor waterfall, natural hot stream, caves, big tree and various kinds of Fern. It is very wonderful to see rainbow waterfall but you have to arrive here before 10:00 am. In one raft, we can sit for 8 people. It takes .several hours before arriving to destination and then walk for another 10 Km. to camp spot.

The best time to visitTee Lor Soo is in rainy season font  June – November as the streams are filled up with water. It is advisable not to drive in because of the dirt muddy roads. Tourists can go by long tail boat and keep walking for another 12 kms. If you come during Dec-May, you may drive into the waterfall but the road are bumpy.

Other activities in Um Pang are driving, through thousand curves, wake up in very early morning to see foggy hill at Doi Hua Mod, see the sun rising with fresh air. When you arrive to Um Pang. do not forget to taste hill coffee because the taste is so strong, it can awake you to feel fresh.

Interesting place to visit when you visit Tak are Tung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary Center. Pang Ma Now watershed. Conservative Road to Baan Nadee. agriculture Farm, Fish Cave, To Ko Bee Cave, UM Pang hill tribe village. Pa Charoen Waterfall and the way back home you can buy cheap things at Rim Muay Market.

Suggestion: Make sure if you hire a van, the driver must familiar with the road because the route from Mae Sot —Um Pang is 169 kms. with 1,219 curves. Passengers might have to take some tablets incase of dizzy head during the trip.

From Bangkok: Use Asia Road to Tak but before reaching Tak, make a left turn to Mae Sot District and follow Route #105 until downtown Mae Sot then turn left again to Um Pang.Use 1090 until the end.

From Um Pang: Use Um Pang-Mae Sot Rd until kilometer sign# 161 then turn left to Mae Klong Mai —Ban Peng Kleung. About 20 kms to Klor checkpoint or Um Pang Wildlife Sanctuary Checkpoint left hand from the main road is bumpy road for another 30 kms. tourists to Tee Lor Soo must get permission to go in Um Pang  Wildlife Sanctuary Center at the Tourism Association and Um Pang Conservative Center before. Then travel by another muddy road for 26 kms. until you see Um Pang  Wildlife Sanctuary Center. Total travel time is around 2 hours. It is advisable to travel by pick up or 4WD. In rainy season any transport may not be able to go in and from Um Pang Wildlife Sanctuary Center you have to walk for 3 kms to the Tee Lor Soo waterfall.

spans 230 km across 6 provinces of Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachinburi, Srakaew and Burinun between Ta Phraya National Park on the Cambodian border in the east, and Khao Yai National Park in the west. Second largest in Thailand the site covers an area of 6,155 square kilometers, including evergreen forests and grasslands 400-1000 m above sea level. It is home to 2500 species of fauna 16 of which world exclusive; 392 birds like red jungle fowl and green peafowl; 112 mammals including Asiatic black bears, Asian elephants, gaurs, tigers, gibbons, Indian sambar deer, crab-eating macaque, Indian muntjac, dholes, and wild pigs. Its waterfalls include the 80 m Heo Narok and Heo Suwat made famous from the film The Beach. The area contains substantial  and important tropical forest ecosystems, which can provide a viable habitat for the long-term survival of these species.

Khao Yai along the Sankambeng Mountain Range or Phanom Dong Rak was a deep jungle infested with wild animals and malaria fever, causing only death to passers-by; it was called Dong Phaya Fai, Infernal Jungle. The Second King to HM Rama V renamed the site to a more auspicious appellation of Dong Phaya Yen, Cool Jungle.

Around 1922 a small settlement was built with cultivated land by people migrated from Nakhon Nayok. Its remoteness attracted and became a refuge for criminals and fugitives. Plad Jang, a retired Adjutant General of the Eastern Army, was assigned to bring the settlement into order. Succeed he did and was reassigned, Dong Phayayen

A major role in its establishment was received by Boonsong Lekakul, one of the 20th century’s most famous conservationists in Thailand. In 1984 the park was made an ASEAN Heritage Park, and on July 14, 2005 the park together with other parks in the Dong Phaya Yen Mountains was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name Dong Phaya Yen-Khao Yai Forest Complex.
