One day trips in Pattaya

Pattaya is never too for away from Bangkok so we left at a leisurely time way into eight o’clock. And it was a predetermined decision of mine to make the Mini Siam Pattaya City my first stop of the day. For only 120 Baht per person (Thai rate, though), this is where you can hop about Thailand’s and the world’s landmarks in their miniaturized form, learn what you need to know about their significance and, of course, take lots and lots of photographs! The Thai Zone has the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Democracy Monument, the Bridge of the River Kwai, for example. I could spot Korean tourists in large number, as well as Korean signage around the place and a Korean restaurant to complete the scene.

Stepping away from the outdoor heat of our first destination, we found refuge in the air conditioned comfort of inside of Royal Garden Plaza. This is where you can get up close and personal with (the wax figures of) the world’s most celebrated individuals like Eddy Murphy, Andy Lau, David Beckham and his fabulous wife plus other Thai and international artists and a few world leaders. I was most impressed by the Batman and Friends room and how the different zones are laid out and presented in general.

The afternoon was spent at a short distance further out from Ambassador City Jomtien. This attraction is a religious intervention in a manner of speaking. When he was the abbot of Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, the current supreme patriarch has come to know of this mountain in its state of rapid destruction from mining. He was determined to preserve the natural elegance of this mountain and came up with the idea to engrave an image of the Lord Buddha on the cliff of Khoo Chee Chan. The resulting low emboss image measures a majestic 130 meters from top to bottom.

Impossible it was not to cap the day with gentle ocean breezes… and local delicacy before returning home. The Angsila Fish Market was absolutely not crowded by any standard years ago. You can either buy fresh items home or have it cooked there at a very reasonable price. The market was especially packed the evening of our visit. With increased awareness among vendors and tourists, the market has expanded significantly. Gone was the relative calm of the bygone days. But in any case, we did have delightful seafood and the spicy dipping sauce to match, all against the back drop of the setting sun of a day well spent.

Travel To Chumphon

Travel To Chumphon

Chumphon has never been a top tourist destination.Travel to Chumphon, Most never take the exit off the 222 km of highway (Petcha kasem Road) running through it from North to South. What have those on the fast-lane been missing? Numerous tranquil beaches with white powdery sands and clear waters. Chumphon is six hours away, and getting to said beaches is often tricky because many are surrounded by private property. But Arunothai Beach, in Pak Tako, is easily accessible and also offers a tranquil fishing village and smart eco-tourism options.

Get to know the locals

Pak Tako subdistrict is very small. If you can recall Arthit Asarat’s award-winning film Wonderful Town, this is even smaller you can easily walk down its two parallel rows of wooden shophouses on Ratpiboon Road in fifteen minutes. Get there early in the morning (9am), when locals are busying themselves with the night’s catch. Surely it’s about time you learn how to gut a squid yourself? This is a real fishing village, though, and it’s not on hipsters’ maps, so don’t expect a cute coffee shop for a pick-me-up.

Arunothai Beach is 6km-long. The sand might not be as powdery as Samed’s Sal Kaew or Samui’s Chaweng but the only people here are locals. As the name implies, Arunothai is at its most beautiful in the morning, when the sun rises over the horizon.

Bike Around town

The municipal office encourages visitors to produce less carbon. Resort all have bicycles available to check out nearby sites (most about two-hour rides roundtrip).

Start your itinerary around 4pm when the heat is starting to drop and head to Pak Tako Mangrove Reserve, located in the Prince of Chumphon Fishery College. The mangrove reserve project was started a few years ago to preserve the local environment as well as exhibiting local flora and fauna for the next generation. Though not yet 1000/o complete, a long wooden walkway leads you into the forest and through blocks where different kinds of animals are shown in captivity. The whole trip is 5 km roundtrip and takes around an hour or more.

GETTING THERE

Car: Arunothai Beach is 538km from Bangkok. Use Rama 2 Road (the same road you use to get to Hua Hin) to reach Petchakasem Road. Then turn left onto Road No. 4096 in Chumphon and continue for around nine kilometers to find the beach.

Plane: Can’t face a six hour drive? Fly. Get Nok Air (from B3,494 roundtrip; 1318, www.nokair.com), Air Asia (from B2,580 roundtrip; 02-515-9999, www. airasia.com) or THAI Airways (from B5,760 roundtrip; 1566, www. thaiairways.com) to Surat Thani and rent a car at the airport. Or fly Solar Air (B2,900 one way; 02-535-2455/-6, www.solarair.co.th) to Chumphon. From both airports it’s another one-hour drive on the Petchakasem Road so you’ll need a car anyway.

WHERE TO STAY

Accommodation in Chumphon town and along the 200 kilometer coast ranges from hotels and resorts to guesthouses and home stays.

If you are looking for luxury resort on the beach in Chumphon Province. Discover for yourself the experience Tusita Resort & Spa Chumphorn. Visit Hotels in Chumphon Here !

Holiday Travel To Rayong

Holiday Travel To Rayong

Holiday Travel To Rayong

Mention Rayong and most people think of fruit farms, Ma Tha Put Industrial estate and parties on Samed. But they would be missing out on a province that is a foodie’s paradise with its hectic fish markets, traditional treats and delicious seafood restaurants.

Rayong Cook

Rayong is home to Thailand’s biggest fishing port and, as the lines of squid boats that speck the Gulf every night testify, seafood is still a big business. If you want to get hold of the catch of the day then your best bet is to eschew the industrial-sized operation at Rayong in favor of the smaller more home¬spun market at Ban Phe. Turn right once you hit the seafront road and head away from the piers taking the party people to Samed. As the road narrows and narrows you’ll pass an increasing number of quaint looking old sho¬phouses. Park up at the end of the street and then wander back through the many stalls sporting all manner of marine life half-buried under crushed ice. For as little as B120 you can pick up a kilo of squid or hoy kang fresh that day, or for a couple of hundred a whole sea bass or mackerel. The best bit is this market gives you the tools to find the near¬est beach and cook it yourself, selling large charcoal burners for just B80 and the charcoal to put in it for an extra B20. If looking at all this seafood gets you hungry then grab a stop gap snack like deep fried soft shell crab or chewy goong thod for just B20 a tray.

Rayong Eat

If the idea of cooking your own dinner freaks you out, then simply jump in your car and head East from Ban Phe along the main beach road (H3164). After a pleasant twenty-minute drive along mile after mile of pretty empty (if a little dirty) beaches flanked by trees, you’ll reach the beach at Laem Mae Phim. While the beach itself can’t match the golden sands of Samed, across the water its stretch of seafood restaurants that you’d be at pains to match anywhere in Thailand for quality and price. A long term favorite and our personal pick would have to be JoJo Restaurant (038-638-240. Open daily 10:30am-9pm) at the far end of the strip. While the decor is strictly old school, the impressive menu of super fresh fish dishes and delicious crab choices mean it’s always popular and you could have to wait up to thirty minutes for a table. if you’re killing time and want some liquid refreshment or just want to stay up that little bit later, then pop in next door to Phish Cafe (085-3187-366. Open daily 4pm-2am). The decor is more beach chic than anything else in the area thanks to the hip lamps and heavy driftwood furniture. Kick back and let the friendly staff serve up some strong pitchers of cocktails (starting from B160/glass) while you enjoy the sounds of the waves out on the open deck.

Rayong Chill

if seafood and the beach really don’t do it for you, then you can always take a step back in time with a journey to Rayong City’s old Chinese quarter which is focused around Yomjindra Road. A quiet and sleepy street of pretty little wooden and stone shophouses during the day, it turns into a bustling little thoroughfare at night with an array of bric-a-brac stores, museums and restaurants to tempt the wallet and the taste buds. Most though, come to chill at the ultra cute cafes and enjoy a traditional tea or soda with favorites including the authentically cluttered Raan Choie (08-6337-7963) with its impres¬sive selection of clocks, or the equally retro but more 60s inspired decor of the fashionable Kafee 122 (081-697-5666. Open daily 1-8pm). Those searching for a weird bargain should check out Jay Yo, a grotto-like store filled with odd antiques, while noodle lovers must pay a visit to the arty Baan Saphanmai (081-429-0920), where you can enjoy a mean gway tiew amid its Ameri¬cana before checking out the cute frames from John’s Frame Shop opposite or the nice little art gallery upstairs. Just round the corner, down a side alley, is Khun Suparb’s Thai Dessert stall (08-5142-6284) with its countless vats of yummy looking treats from tubtim to sweet sticky rice. If that doesn’t cure your sweet tooth then further up the street, you’ll also find a sister branch in Khun Turn’s Thai desserts (08-5142-6284).

GETTING THERE

By car. If you are heading to Rayong City take Highway 7 for around an hour coming off at Highway no 36 before Pattaya. It should take around two hours. If you are heading to Mae Laem Phe, take Highway 7 as above, but you can always take the cross country route on H344. It will be around a 2.5-3 hour journey.

By bus. Air-conditioned buses leave every half an hour to Rayong from Ekkamai Southern Bus Terminal. Tickets cost B126 and the journey takes around threee hours.

The Sea of Trang

The Sea of Trang

The Sea of Trang

Despite the fact that it enjoys somewhat lesser popularity amongst international tourists compared to provinces such as Phuket, Phangnga, or Krabi; Trang can say that it boasts its own appeal, with a friendly atmosphere not likely found anywhere else.

Good Morning Trang!

Although flights now operate between Trang and Bangkok many visitors still prefer a train that will arrive early in the morning, which is the best time to witness the idyllic way of life of the lo¬cals, who begin their day early, a habit derived from the many decades of rubber plantation life. This requires early work starting from 4am to 5am, when workers will tap the rubber and by 6am, they will gather at a coffee house for some stimulation from a cup of brewed coffee with grilled pork and dim sum as well as verbal exchange. It’s notable that the locals seem to be interested in politics and take pride in the fact that a former prime minister of Thailand actually hails from the province.

The Sea of Trang

Trang’s geographical feature is dominated by rolling hills, which is particularly obvious during a road trip when you see the scenery of rubber trees plantation in which the rubbers are planted along the low and high land. From the top of a hill prior to Sikao district, you can see Meng mountain that stands majestically in the distance. It is regarded as a landmark of Trang thanks to its proximity to Pak Meng dock, which is the boarding centre for those who come to experi¬ence the sea of Trang. The favourite programme of the tourists is a boat trip that allows you to enjoy the scenery of all the small isles of the sea, each boasting its own feature for those wishing to explore and discover. A good example is Ko Muk, on which Morakot cave is hidden amid the circling mountains.
