There are 2 main driving routes from Bangkok to the ferry ports around Laem Ngop, both approximately 300 – 320 km long:

The first one is the Highway 3. At the bypass at Chonburi you have to turn off onto Highway 344. Follow it and when you reach the crossroads at Klaeng you have to turn back onto Highway 3 that leads you to Trat and Laem Ngop.

If you want to avoid Trat and take the shorter way to the ferry points, you have to turn right off Highway 3, directly after the police checkpoint in the village Baan Sang Thung, a few kilometres before Trat onto the road that directs to Laem Ngop and to Trat airport (Highway 3156). Then just follow the signs to the ferry points.

The second possibility is the motorway, a continuation of the Rama IX road, which goes onwards and meets Highway 344. Then continue as described above.

The name of Klong Plu or Mek Phu Pha Waterfall may be come from Klong Phu.the peak of Phu Pha Mek Sawan Mountain which King Rama V used to take a day off. However, if you want to go. you should contact the officer. Feeling shady and cool through the route to the waterfall. After walking about 400 meters you will reach the first floor that flows from the high cliff (its height=100 meters). Then enjoy swimming in the large basin below surrounded by talus.

Koh Chang has not only these splendid waterfalls, Klong Plu and Thanmayom, but also other magnificent waterfalls which many people never knew before. Likely, local people do not know them much because it is difficult and tough to find one. For example, Klong Nonsi, the small-sized waterfall, near Koh Chang police station, or Klong Sib-ed in Ban Salakphet (in order to reach it you have to cross a stream for 11 times). Sometimes, a guide is needed, especially if you want to go to Klong Nueng Waterfall. It is situated in the south of Ban Salakphet. Therefore, visiting Khiri Phet Waterfall that is not far from Klong Nueng is preferable.
